Download and install the video editor
The first thing you need to do to make your very own highlight video is download the VLC Media Player. VLC will let you cut your highlight plays from your DVDs or media files. Go to VLC site and download the VLC Media player using the big download button:
The download button will bring you to the download page. The install file will start downloading, and it will prompt you to save the file. You will see a prompt to 'Save' the file. Make sure you click 'Save':
After your download has finished, open the file you just downloaded and click 'Run' to start the install:
When the installer starts, use the default settings and click 'Install':
After the installer has finished, click the 'Finish' button:
Now wasn't that easy?! You are ready to go! Click step 2 below to begin creating your plays!

Create the clips for your highlight video
VLC will open automatically after you install it, but if you need to run it in the future, you can find it in your program list. Click the windows start icon and expand 'All Programs'. You will find VLC under 'VideoLAN':
Start VLC by clicking 'VLC media player':
You should see the main media player window:
You have to use the record button to clip your plays. The record button is not visible by default. Under the 'View' menu, make sure you enable 'Advanced Controls' and you will see the record button just above the 'Play' button:
Now you are ready to edit your game tapes! If you are working from media files, like a highlight you made earlier, you can open them by clicking 'Open File'. If you are using DVDs, click the 'Media' menu at the top of the player, and select 'Open Disc' to edit your DVD:
When you click 'Open Disc', you will see the following window. Use the drop-down to select your DVD drive or 'Browse' button and point it to your DVD drive. Click 'Play':
You should see your video! You can navigate the DVD menu by clicking in the media player. Start playing your video and locate the beginning of your play. When you get to the beginning of your play, click the record button:
The record button will show up as pressed. This means you are recording your play. When you get to the end of your play, click the record button again to stop the recording.
Go to your Video Library folder, and you will see your play as a small video file:
Preview your play and make sure you are happy with it. You can right-click on it and click 'Play with VLC media player' to watch the play. If you want to redo it, delete the file and repeat the previous step:
Repeat the recording steps until you have all of your plays for your highlight video:
